Troubleshooting
Common hiccups and quick fixes.
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Image fails to load | Unsupported file type | Convert to PNG, JPEG (JPG), GIF, WebP, BMP, or SVG and retry |
| Show Tree button disabled | No root node | Add a root, then click Show Tree |
| “Tip nodes ≠ name lines” banner | Name list length mismatch with number of tip nodes placed | check for missing or extra tip nodes or edit tip names |
| Red circles on nodes | missing or extra nodes | Add missing internal nodes or drag into alignment |
| Yellow rings on nodes | Asymmetry exceeds threshold | This usually happens when there are missing nodes, look near the shallowest yellow ring-marked node |
| Newick modal won’t open | Tree invalid or hidden | Click Show Tree and fix any ensure the tree is valid first |
| Calibration dialog never appears | Second click missed the canvas | Simply start calibration again |
| Mouse drags canvas instead of placing a node | No tool selected | Select Tip/Internal/Root first |
